Today’s report released from the Winter Grazing Taskforce reiterates farmers are on the right track, Clutha-Southland MP Hamish Walker says.
“The report makes several recommendations, including some which I know farmers already do in their day to day business,” Mr Walker says.
“However it is disappointing in making it a recommendation, the report does not acknowledge farmers are already doing it.”
“Vast majority of farmers, in my opinion, operate with their animals’ welfare at the forefront of everything they do.”
“We can always do things better, and farmers are always the first to do this where possible.”
“This report recommends a lot of what I believe the majority of farmers are already doing.”
“I support the move away from bullying farmers and finger-pointing when it comes to winter grazing and encourage the Government to do what the report states – to support farmers.”
“Farmers in New Zealand are leading the world when it comes to food production and we need to do all we can to support them to ensure this continues.”
