Clutha-Southland MP Hamish Walker is inviting the public to hear from various stakeholders about the ongoing situation with Milford Road.
“Milford Road being fully operational is incredibly important for both businesses and employees in Milford Sound, Te Anau and the surrounding districts, so I’m pulling various people together to give the community an update on where we are with Milford Road,” Mr Walker says.
“Communication in the community is paramount for everyone to understand how much destruction has occurred on Milford Road and how much hard work has gone in to getting the three times a day convoys up and running and the huge amount of ongoing work being undertaken.”
“There are many livelihoods in Te Anau and also tourism operators from other areas which rely on tourism in Milford Sound and we need to be able to make progress as efficiently as possible.”
“Contractors are working incredibly hard on the road at present, doing a great job, but we need to give them as much support as possible.”
“This will provide the opportunity to talk about what’s happening with Milford Road at present and what is next.”
The public meeting on Milford Road will be held on Wednesday, March 4 at 7pm at the Fiordland Community Events Centre.
